It’s The Godfather and The Dark Knight all over again.

R.I.P. fandoms, it was nice being a part of you, but after everything that happened, we just need…a little space.

There’s an Indian fable (brutally condensed):
Two sons are massaging the legs of their hard working father. Each son starts declaring they give the best massage. The sons then start berating the other, and hitting the leg their sibling is massaging. The father is now howling in pain and being beat instead of getting a massage after working hard.

TF? Why would they even do that?

So basically Breaking Bad fans have been known for years now (and I say this as a big fan of the show) to review bomb any episode of a show that gets close to a 10/10 on IMDB. Why is that? Because Breaking Bad episode “Ozymandias” (S5 E13) was the only episode on IMBD with a 10/10 rating. However, the newest episode of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms “In The Name Of The Mother” threatened to take the top spot from “Ozymandias”. So long story short, Breaking Bad fans review bombed the episode but then unexpectedly got review bombed back by not only Game of Thrones fans but a lot of other fandoms that had episodes of their shows review bombed by Breaking Bad fans in the past, causing “Ozymandias” to fall to a 9.8/10. This ends “Ozymandias” long time run as the highest rated episode and only episode with a 10/10 on IMDB.

Breaking Bad was good for its entire run, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is pretty pretty good, so disappointed next episode is season finale

Genuinely cannot fathom rating an episode of a show I didn’t watch for any reason at all, let alone for review bomb purposes.

Reddit moment. The kind of cringey weirdos this website has produced boggles the mind. I can imagine their glasses flashing, soy beards coated in Doritos dust as they furiously drop bad reviews on TV shows.

All the more reason to get rid of IMDB’s user score ratings as they are. If they can be manipulated by losers like these or in countless other cases, they have no meaning.

What’s wild to me is that enough people were on the same page about this to make an impact. A handful of crazies is understandable, but enough to do what they did is just wild
Ranking things out of 10 arbitrarily is just a useless system.
Consendsys gives you pairs from a list and you repeatedly say which one you prefer. When you do it a bunch of times you end up with a well ordered list of rankings and it’s also pretty fun!
