  1. American Animals was awesome and very well done. What advice would you give to an aspiring filmmaker to getting started?

What’s your favorite movie theater snack and also would you say a hippopotamus is really a hippopotamus, or just a really cool opotamus??

When you adapt a real story, how do you decide what to keep ambiguous instead of fully explaining?

What are the unexpected hiccups that a first time director should be aware of that they might not know about when making a film?

  5. Your films often blur the line between documentary realism and narrative storytelling especially The Imposter and American Animals. With Crime 101 did you approach it differently since it’s more of a straight genre thriller? Or did you still try to bring that grounded almost documentary tension into it? Also how did you balance such a stacked cast without losing intimacy in the performances?

Hi Bart, congratulations on the film. Is there anything you can tease about Rogue Male? (It has a script by Dennis Kelly (Utopia) and Hunter Andrews (Wasteman) – correct?) Very much looking forward to it!

  7. The Imposter is one of my favorite movies, so I was wondering if you were >!expecting to find more in the hole that’s shown in the final shot? How far were you going to follow these people through their convictions?!< I’m also curious what your thoughts are on the movie Orphan: First Kill, which clearly takes a lot from The Imposter.

Anyways thanks for the movies, I got to see Crime 101 yesterday and we all really enjoyed it!

I met Hemsworth a few years ago and he’s a great person. Was he always your first choice for the protagonist, or did you have any other actors in mind?

Thanks in advance, I’m really looking forward to seeing *Crime 101* this weekend.

  9. Well done on the film, saw it on Tuesday and it was pretty good, worth the money spent

I know you were inspired a lot by Heat, Collateral, many Michael Mann films for this. Any other crime thrillers specifically?

Also any tips for up and coming filmmakers?

  10. Hi! Loved the film. The tone and action were perfect and the cast killed it. Were you influenced by any other films making it? Thanks for a great time at the movies!
