  1. Most likely so that Disney can’t can his new Hawaiian mob feature with The Rock (!), which I believe is set up at 20th Century. Serve the Mouse, and it serves you. Mostly. (Plus, with Paramount going fascist and Apple not liking movie theaters anymore, he needs a new home.)

  2. I mean… Star Wars has included “serious cinema” people from the start. Guinness, Cushing, Lee

Scorsese has precedent as an actor, playing Van Gogh on Kurosawa’s *Dreams*

I mean, did anyone really need official confirmation? Everyone that watched the trailer knew that was his voice.

I’m more bummed about the fact that we won’t have anymore appearances from Carl Weathers.

  4. “Why cant we control our budgets! These movies are getting so damn expensive!”

“Hey we got Martin Scorsese to do a random voice of a nobody isnt that awesome!”

  5. Oh ok. Why didn’t thwy do a good movie instead? I feel like someone has lost any sense of priorities there at Disney.

  6. Scorsese has a complicated history with SW.

On one hand, its success led to New Hollywood being dropped and he got addicted to coke, nearly killing him.

On the other, Lucas is his friend and he’s helped him get a role in his funded Kurosawa film, Dreams, and donated to many of his NYU programs, none of which he could’ve done without people buying the 10,000th Boba Fett action figure.

Finally, some real cinema. The Ardennian shopkeep is clearly a complex, gritty character study
