  1. This is a movie where Jack Black and R. Lee Ermey get married in the end. 18% on RT my ass.

However bizarre it can be at times, it’s worth watching for Steve Zahn, Jack Black and Ermey. And remember, if you get the nachos stuck together, that’s one nacho.

  2. This movie imprinted on me in a major way. I watched it on cable television probably 50 times in my early teens. Seeing those RT and MC scores is painful, this movie is absolutely hilarious and stupid in the best way. I honestly wish Jack Black never left this mode and just played JDs forever. It was fun seeing him and Zahn back together in Anaconda but, man, this movie just has some magic to it.

And don’t even get me started on Amanda Peet. That Big Montana scene did a real number on me and I’ve liked a strong woman ever since. Her performance in this actually rules, one of the great things about this movie is how she’s in, like, a tactile thriller and the rest of the characters are in a dumb comedy and it’s such a beautiful thing when the two movie types clash.

This is also the movie that made me a massive fan of Neil Diamond and the sole reason I know the entirety of Hot August Night by heart because I would listen to it every day on the way to and from school. When he shows up and it’s playing Coming to America when they turn on America Blvd, I mean come on. That’s just classic 2000s cameo stuff.

I could quote this movie for days.

“Do you wanna be gay *with* me?”

“We ate her. Bones and all.”

“Hold on I think I see something in the back of the fridg- in the back of the closet. Nevermind, all clear. CHH.”

“Two, three, four, BUM BUM. BUM BUM BUM BUM BUM BUM BUM.”

“You went to Stanford University?” “Subway… University.”

“You’re the hardcore bitch I’ve always dreamed of!”

“I fixed it. It was a lugnut.”

“If the nachos stick together, that’s one Nacho.”

I could literally do this all day. 10 out of fucking 10.

  3. TheIgnoredWriter on

The comedy in this movie does not give a fuck

“….And her brother, the dog faced boy”

I’ve seen it 100x and it’s funny every time.

  4. “I only know the air force signals.”

“It was the lug nut. Fixed it.”

“You’ve been pinching loaves on the lawn?”

“If you get all the nachos stuck together, then that’s one nacho.”

“Do you wanna be gay…with me?”

“Yeah? Well one time I ran over a squirrel and it didn’t die right then, but I’m pretty sure it died right after that!”

“He’ll have a gin and tonic.”

This is all from memory. Love this movie.

  5. I’ve never eaten from a plate of nachos in the past 25 years without referencing this movie out loud
