I said this elsewhere, but good! Dana Walden has the connections and clout with the industry creatives that drive Disney’s content. The park guy doesn’t know these people at all.

Let’s say the average Disney worker makes $75K a year. This guy is going to make 360 times that.
In the 1970s, the CEO to average worker pay ratio was 27:1
Oh, and taxes for people making over $1 million are less than half of what they were too.

Base pay is lower, bonuses and equity are higher, so the total pay package is higher especially if all KPIs are hit. CEOs will often negotiate this so that if the company does well, they do well. They’re hedging their bets that the company will do well under their leadership, meaning they make more overall than if they took a higher guaranteed salary with less bonuses and equity.
A couple hundred grand guaranteed salary is nothing compared to multiple millions possible if higher bonuses and equity pan out. And if it doesn’t pan out, they have bigger problems and are still rich anyway.

“base pay” for any corporate executive is almost meaningless. They get the bulk from bonuses or stocks or similar things

No wonder why a $3 soft drink is $15 at the park
