  1. I watched this film recently, for the first time. It was an exhilarating experience. Wasn’t as action-packed as I expected, but when the action is on, it goes so fucking hard (including another suspensful sequence in the end). This chase obviously takes some liberties in some aspects, but it’s a groundbreaking sequence that shaped so many car chases to come.

You know, I felt a bit disappointed to learn there’s just one Bullitt film with McQueen. I could’ve watched a few more films of Bullitt taking over new cases, and I wouldn’t complain in the slightest. But there’s something admirable over pulling an incredible film and deciding that this is it.

As a confession, this was also the first time I saw a film starring Steve McQueen. Yeah, I have to get going on that. But after browsing other titles with him, they’re definitely going to my watchlist. Maybe *The Great Escape* should be next.

Great car chase movie. There have been a few better ones made over the years, but it’s hard to beat the pure cool of McQueen and that car
