Honestly I did not expect Avatar 3 to keep the franchise this strong. With all three Avatars up there, Cameron’s almost guaranteed a historic legacy regardless of what critics say about the storytelling.

I’m sure Reddit will take this reasonably. Never seen a franchise make people so mad for existing save maybe the Jurassic World movies.

I’ll defend Avatar a little bit. For me there’s something amazingly camp about these self-serious, earnest films about environmentalism and colonial destruction featuring gigantic sexy blue aliens, and the fact that it costs so much to make just makes it all the more funny. It’s refreshingly itself, even when it’s derivative and simple. Almost all the critiques people throw at it are true, but I can’t help but like it all the same.

Ngl, Avatar 3 in 3D was the best 3D experience I’ve ever had. If it wasn’t $30, I would’ve done it like three times.

One’s a good movie, the other is a money-printing machine.

Never even watched the 2nd one yet, let alone the 3rd.

I went and watched it in a theater with the “D Box”, and it was honestly so much fun. Am I ever going to watch it again? No probably not. But god these are fun to go see in 3D, or IMAX, or whatever gimmick they’ve got going on. It’s always an experience, even if the movie isn’t good.

If it didn’t accumulate a big bag it’s first run. Cameron would have made the studio re-release again at some point, lie eh did the other 2.

Another (somewhat baffling) indication of Avatar’s popularity is the uptick in custom-made YouTube shorts in which pedestrian moments from the movies are stitched together, seemingly at random, and set against a vaguely melancholy tune:

Any shitting on Avatar 3 did not see it in IMAX.
That movie was fucking crazy. I needed a cigarette and some quiet time after that roller coaster ride.
