Billie Eilish was recently honored with the Beloved Community Environmental Justice Award at the MLK Jr. Beloved Community Awards in Atlanta — an event celebrating leaders who champion justice, equity, and community impact.

She’s been a vocal environmental advocate for years, using her platform to raise awareness about climate justice and food equity. She’s also pledged major support to environmental causes — most notably announcing a $11.5 million donation from her Hit Me Hard and Soft tour to nonprofits focused on climate justice, reducing carbon pollution, and fighting food insecurity.

At a recent award event (the Wall Street Journal Innovator Awards), Billie didn’t shy away from speaking truth to power — urging the ultra‑wealthy in the room to give more of their wealth to meaningful causes and asking “If you’re a billionaire, why are you a billionaire?” while pushing for real action on climate and social issues.

Her speech and her giving highlight how she’s turning her influence into impact — not just talking about change but actively funding it. ❤️🌱

That’s incredible and I hope she inspires her peers in the music industry! Will be streaming

I think it’s kind of ridiculous to give her an award, sorry. PR for a rich person.

“Her” donation was *crowdfunded* – not her money from her own wealth- but charging double for special tickets (when the regular tickets already very expensive) and the difference is donated so Billie’s profits from the tour (estimated to gross around 30 million dollars) – remains the same, she never matched the donation her audience made – which is something I would expect from a very rich person if they actually mean what they say.

She also sells a lot of different products, many variants, works with billionaires, and no billionaire was convinced not to be a billionaire from her statement (guess what it takes legislation and taxation, not just saying something on a stage)

I really don’t think someone who openly posts AI generated images to her social media should be getting an environmental advocacy award.

  4. She spoke about the kidnappings and ICE terrorism during her speech. I know everyone is hell bent for hating her for the silliest reasons but she continues to walk the talk.

  5. I work at a venue that had her tour in. We had to swap out all bottled water for some special boxed water she made us sell. That made it so we had to buy a ton of cardboard boxes to store all the water bottles during her show. We also had to have people come in before and after the event to swap everything. And all the unsold ones are just sitting around now, as they can’t be sold normally.
Her mom walked around the venue during the show to make sure nobody was using the improper water, or serving people straws.
