Top gun maverick behind the scenes

If anyone is wondering why this isn’t in the movie, it was part of the training the actors had to undergo to be allowed to even ride in Navy jets as a passenger. There is a great bonus feature about it on my blu-Ray copy of the movie. It was intense.

If I recall, this is the part where they’re submerged and have to be able to get out of their harness, out of the cabin, and to the water’s surface while wearing full flight gear.

They basically did fighter pilot boot camp

I think this training device is what is called the “Dilbert Dunker”
