Remember the scene in the first Ice Age where Manny gets flashbacks of his past on the cave painting wall?

As a kid I never put two and two together that Manny had a previous family to Peaches and Ellie. Instead, I figured that Manny was the baby mammoth, and his dad just physically resembled him very closely. And somehow, he survived the boulder being thrown down on his mom and him and had memories of his dad's despair. Even years after watching it for the first time it still never occurred to me that it was his OWN family. I always wondered why they never explored this more in the movies because it seems like a BIG meaning for Manny's behavior. But maybe I'm just kind of slow and didn't connect the dots LMAO. '

I can't remember how I stumbled upon this fact, but it shocked me because I didn't think of it AT ALL.

    1. I could see that. As a kid, you connect with other child characters. It doesn’t occur to you to think like an adult or what might happen to an adult. You just see a little mammoth and go “dats me,” and assume the thrust of that scene was about him as a child.

    2. What’s wild to me for a kids movie is that he’s on his way to kill himself at the beginning of the movie…
