I read somewhere that Kruger is supposed to have been born in 1970, but Elysium is set in 2154. That would make him 184 years old. Are we saying they had the technology in the late 90’s or early 00’s to prolong his life?

It’s those pod things they’re trying to get to the entire movie…
It could be they just retired and reactivated it during war time. It happens in US military as well, e.g. 3rd Infantry Regiment, 7th calv, 75th ranger where they will be decommissioned and then reactivated typically during a war when they need to be formed for specific purposes or because of a surge of personnel
