In “The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring” (2001), when Boromir is dying, the lyrics of the choir in the background include the quote “I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness.” This is a quote that Boromir’s little brother, Faramir, said in the LoTR books, but not in the movies.

“I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend”

Great catch, Tolkien said if he had to liken himself to a Middle-Earth character it would be Faramir.

    2. Full quote is:

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend

    3. Full Faramir quote “I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend.”

Makes a lot more sense when you get the full lyrics .

    4. So this what we’re doing today? Crying for Boromir, son and captain of Gondor?
