Was watching Once Upon A Time in China (streaming on MAX, 25 minute mark) yesterday and thought this was interesting. The protagonists go to a western restaurant to speak to the captain. They are seated and given this very out-of-place menu. I believe it is being used to convey opulence.
The text: Complimentary Banquet Given to His Imperial Highness Grand Duke Alexis January 30,1872 Galt House Louisville, KY German & Bro Lith.
A quick Google finds that the Grand Duke Alexis did tour the US in 1871-72 and did visit Louisville.
This movie is set at roughly the same time in Foshan, China.
This movie was released in China in 1991 so it was produced around 1990.
My best guess that old lithograph plates somehow made it into a Chinese prop house. I would love to know more about how this very specific menu made it into this movie.
