In this scene from Inglorious Basterds, the man on the left is a British SF soldier dressed as a Nazi soldier. The other one, is an actual high ranking Nazi officer. With this gesture , the British soldier blew his cover by asking for three more drinks using those three fingers, instead of using his thumb, the way Germans do it.

That’s not really a movie detail, as much as it’s a huge plot point in the film.
Yes, we’re aware, the movie tells us this very explicitly
