To me the best opening sequence of all time is the Lion King intro. The music starts, the sun rises, the colorful animals gather through the beautiful African scenery, Rafiki approaches, the music crescendos, Rafiki raises Simba up, the animals bow, "The Lion King" flashes on the screen.. epic. It was such a creative way to intro the future king to the animal kingdom and the audience.

the Lion King intro is a classic for sure, but i gotta shout out the opening of Saving Private Ryan. that D-Day scene hits hard and sets the tone for the whole movie. what else ya got?

  2. It’s not the greatest, not even Top 10, but I absolutely loved the opening to JJ Abrams Star Trek.

“Your father was captain of a starship for twelve minutes. He saved eight hundred lives, including your mother’s and yours. I dare you to do better.”

2001: A Space Odyssey must be the most iconic opening ever.
Instantly recognisable for the music, the apes, the obelisk and the first smashing bones.

Baby Driver has an amazing opening scene.

Not the best of all time, but had to give it a mention.

  5. Blade, any of the many bond openings- Casino Royale is a great one, the Matrix one is iconic, X2 nightcrawler in the white house

  6. Baz Lurmans Romeo and Juliet has to be up there just for the thundering soundtrack and then dropping into the montage boys.

    (I amar prestar aen.)

    The world is changed.

    (Han matho ne nen.)

I feel it in the water.

  8. Love the opening to Drive, where Gosling is listening to the lakers game on the radio and times it to use as cover for his escape.

  9. Touch of Evil has to be up there. Personally, A new hope probably has it in the bag from an iconic point of view.

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl and LotR: The Fellowship of the Ring are both up there

Lots of them, but since many have been said I’ll go with The Prince of Egypt. Just watched the movie after decades last week and the whole opening up gave me goosebumps.
