  1. > “Saturday Night Live” star Chloe Fineman faced scrutiny over an unexpected story in a Vanity Fair video about her pantsing a six-year-old boy when she worked at a summer camp as a teenager. Her “SNL” co-stars expressed shock at the story, which ended with Fineman getting fired by the camp, but Vanity Fair has removed some of their reactions and cringey details from the video.

This whole situation is disgusting. I genuinely think it warrants her getting fired.

She made a stupid and impulsive decision as a teenager and was fired for it? Sounds like she faced the consequences she needed to at the time.

The original video also showed Padilla telling Fineman, “Oh, honey, I think you’re on a list somewhere.”

I have a feeling that little boy (who’s now grown) will have something to say soon

According to people behind the scenes on SNL everybody has had enough of her bullshit:

    Undeserved sense of entitlement

Gets way too familiar with celebrities

Always got such inexplicably weird vibes from her so this checks out lol

Is this a promo for The Drama? It feels like Zendaya’s character telling her “secret” and then being flabbergasted when everyone is outraged by it lmao

Seems like an ill-considered extension of the old “you wouldn’t like it if someone did that to YOU would do?” thing that adults say to children sometimes. Dumb idea, but I can see why a teenager might do it. Why a fully grown adult would tell this story for the world to see is beyond me.

  10. Usually, you pay for media training to avoid stories like this. She paid for an interview to deliver one directly to the public.

  11. change the word “pantsed” to “undressed” and this becomes very clear. she undressed a child to embarrass them. that is fucked.

Not only did she clarify that he was SIX years old, she specifically refers to his genitalia in the story. Fuck her.

I’m willing to admit that this sounds like some tinfoil-hat craziness but does anybody find it really weird how mainstream media outlets relentlessly go to bat for SNL cast members? What is it specifically about SNL where despite it not being relevant and most people not being able to name any cast members, everything gets so much unending media coverage as if these are a-list celebrities on the most watched program on the planet?

As a teacher, this is so gross to me. I get that a teenaged camp counsellor is unlikely to receive a lot of training, is probably not paid much for their labour, and is ultimately still kind of a child. I think giving them grace for their fuck ups makes sense to a point. But part of caring for children is understanding the inherent power imbalance of the relationship. You do not have to tolerate children hurting you or behaving in ways that violate your boundaries, but you cannot stoop to their level. You have power and authority over that child, and an obligation to keep them physically and psychologically safe.

I work with kids with special needs. A lot of my students have pretty extreme behavioural issues. I’ve been cussed out, hit, kicked, bit, spit on etc. more times than I can count. My job in those situations is not to bite the student back to teach them a lesson. My job is to validate their feelings and model appropriate behaviour. If the situation is too difficult for me to do that, I will trade with another staff member. I can absolutely enforce appropriate consequences for the behaviour as well.

There are so many better ways she could have handled this situation. And honestly if she spoke about it as something she regrets, an impulsive and shitty decision she made when she was younger and that she now understands how wrong it was I would have a lot more empathy for her. It wouldn’t excuse what she did. But I get that caring for kids is hard and we all mess up sometimes (obviously I’ve never pantsed anyone). The fact that this is a funny story to her is genuinely disturbing.

  15. Between this and the fact that she just isn’t that good on SNL, I think she should just get a job as a barista.

Some of these comments are 🥴. There is no planet on which pantsing a small child (even if he had been wearing underwear) as a teenager is ever ok. Good Lord y’all I cant believe that even needs to be said. Laughing about it as an adult is end stage weirdo behavior.
