If only we lived in a world where satire worked, where media literacy wasn’t at rock bottom levels, where lessons learned turned into action taken.

Yes ,we all want to see his version of trump say evil things because it’s”timely” and totally don’t want the other characters to have actual development and purpose in the narrative.

The Trump years and the MAGA disease are truly stranger than fiction. You’d think even with the whole historical context of the rise of fascism that we would have avoided all this political strife, but here we are, a nation run by the minority of the population who are suffering from a combination of fetal alcohol syndrome and a paint chip diet

Its crazy that they wrote something thats extremely relevant when at the time they wrote it, thought it was too far out there. And it was written not too long ago.

Hard to write satire when reality is already so insane

There appears to be a shot in one of the teasers where Homelander is looking at a model of a statue of himself. My bet is its being built outside the White House in a commentary on the arch, all the renaming, the ballroom, etc.

Well shit. I thought for sure we’d see Deep do the Elon Musk Hitler salute.

This guy is such a hack, he should have left the political satire to South Park and Jon Stewart. No one needed their super hero show to teach them that Trump is a piece of shit.
Instead he compromised the entire show and ruined it’s rewatchability by tying in his political agenda and current events that most of us don’t want to be reminded of.

I’m sure the subtle political commentary The Boys is known for will still be apparent.

I’m more bummed that the show’s writing quality has fallen off a cliff and relies entirely on shock moments(plus disgusting commentary from Kripke on Hughie), Homelander doing wacky stuff and “get it, get the reference!” 1:1 copies of current day controversy, which becomes incredibly dated when Trump does something even shittier and more relevant the next day that makes it seem tame.
And before people pile on me claiming “you just dont like it because you’re MAGA!!” no Stormfront was a solid parody of the alt right, and Vought S1 was a great parody of the war on terror. I liked those, they were good. But S3 and S4 were increasingly boring and pointless because they care more about shocking or satirical “moments” than having a cohesive story like S1 or S2.

Let’s not pretend that The Boys was insightful social commentary. It could have been, but instead it usually went for low-hanging fruit and shock value.

The show has just jumped the shark at this point. The satire in season 1 at least had some subtlety. They got so ham handed with it that it’s not even funny any more. Never mind just being gross for the sake of it to the point at has no real affect on the audience.
