Many people know of the Miramax cut of the film, but not many seem know of the Fred Calvert version before Miramax got a hold of if it. Miramax cut out 8 minutes, made more changes to the voice cast and added more celebrities, and it was actually their decision to have The Thief talk. Still not the most ideal version, but better than Miramax's.

that’s pretty interesting, didn’t realize there was a whole other version out there. gotta check it out and see how it stacks against the Miramax cut.

The movie the creative process for which was:
“Ok, here’s a scene. What could we add to it that would make it more difficult to animate?”
“What else could we do to make it harder to animate?”
“Let’s make it even harder to animate than that.”
“Ok, time to animate it.”
And it didn’t end well, but still it was glorious, like Scott’s South Pole expedition.
The Recobbled Cut is still my favourite.

But yes it’s also because I had to scratch the itch while watching the Lindsay Ellis video.
It’s definitely worth the watch. Such an interesting backstory and history to the film.
Again? How many times has this movie been “recobbled”?
