Oh man. This could be great but I am about 99% sure it’s going to be fucked up and canceled after one season. But I am hoping not.

Hopefully the TV show is still able to tell a faithful story for kids like the books did that includes all the murder and war crimes lol

What, another live-action one? You’re will have to use a shit ton of CGI for the animals anyway, just animate it!

  4. I hope they make the transformations look like they did in the old show and don’t use modern CGI.

  5. A faithful adaptation of the animorphs would be straight insane, those books were gory and dark while still being through the perspective of children, I expect they’ll age characters up and lean more into the melodrama than the body horror but that’s still a rich area to explore

Dawg I’d be so mad if one of my homies could turn into like a rhino or eagle and then I got stuck with like wormtail from Hp and turn into a rat lol.

Coogler’s company producing could be extremely cool. Animorphs is a weird property (teen drama + body horror + war story + aliens + Animal Planet), and I really do think it will take real creative vision to execute well. “Sinners” is obviously an incredible genre mashup — so this seems very promising as a starting place.

  8. I loved the books to death as a kid, but this is going to be absolutely awful lol.

It’s going to need a ton of CGI in almost every episode for Ax, Tobias, the battles, all the transformations, Visser Three, the centipede alien guys, Hork Bajir, etc.

One of my TV fantasies was to have an animated Animorphs show done in the Todd McFarland Spawn style. Hopefully this turns out decent.

  10. I would love to see the actors from the old Nickelodeon Animorphs series in cameo roles, as Yeerk controlled adults or something.

But also, I don’t remember which Ashmore Twin it was, but they’re probably both a bit expensive for a cameo now.

  11. Anything’s gotta be better than the Nickelodeon Animorphs TV show. I was so disappointed with that as a kid.

  12. I just want movies of the Ellimist Chronicles, the Andalite Chronicles and the Hork Bajir Chronicles. Probably won’t ever happen, but those stories were so cool.

  13. Loved the books but there’s 0% chance this is good. Apparently I’m the only one over Coogler. Needs to slow his roll. Dude is just peeing on everything like a dog in a new yard.

Downvote now and then we can come back in two years and everyone can whine about his over saturation that absolutely no one saw coming 🙄

As someone who owns every single book, this is cautiously exciting. Animorphs adaptations have been in development hell since the tv show in the 90s so we’ll see what happens. I do think it would’ve been better as an animated series though.

I assume a bunch of grown men are going to cry like little babies about this when one of the characters is Black and/or queer.

  16. PLEASE let this be a hit. I need adaptations of Andalite and Ellimist Chronicles one day.

This was already done in 1998 and it brought us Shawn Ashmore. In 1998 I remember it looked really good, but I was also a small child…

Oh fuck yes, please let this work out. I loved these books as a kid and there is so much content they could develop from this series.

  19. They botched the first adaptation so I’m ready to maybe introduce my kids to another one and enjoy it with them.

  20. Disney plus has a HUGE CGI issue and I doubt that a series like this that requires heavy CGI is going to go well.

There have been multiple Disney plus series where they cut and edit scenes specifically to avoid having to animate them. Percy Jackson did this a lot, Ms. Marvel did as well, and we all remember the issues She-Hulk had with CGI. There’s no way this turns out well IMO because Disney will continue to refuse to invest the money/time.

  21. Man, I still remember that final book. Gut wrenching trauma. Hope they get there.
