  1. He’s too old for it anyway. They all are. The first film came out 25 years ago FFS!

This is good news and anyone who thinks otherwise is out of their minds. Recasting need to come back. I’m getting tired of de-aging and rewriting around an actors absence.

  3. this movie, just like the gollum game and that Rohan hunt anime, are just cash grabs.

    Amazon is a horrible steward

  4. > our film takes place between The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, and it’s The Hunt for Gollum, and it is a physical hunt for the character, but also a psychological hunt for himself.

Every single thing say about this movie is somehow more laughable than the last. It’s genuinely impressive.

  5. 50 bucks on Austin Butler… if they did it right I dont think it would fit in this reality. It would be unsettling if it was decent in any way.

Kinda feels weird tbh recasting Aragorn is bold, but Viggo Mortensen is so iconic it’s hard to imagine anyone else. Curious, but also a bit skeptical.

  7. On top of everything, Viggo Mortensen has had serious health issues lately. In his 2022 movie *Crimes of the Future* his character is always sitting or squatting because he couldn’t stand for very long in real life.

  8. All due respect, but I think I’m going to just continue pretending this film doesn’t exist.

I don’t know if it’d work but I’d love Dept Q’s Alexej Manvelov to take a crack at it.  Guy’s got presence.

I don’t want this movie to be made. Just like Rings of Power and the second and third Hobbit movies. God please save us.

lowkey wild how Serkis went from playing Gollum in a green suit to literally directing Tolkien adaptations now. not sure anyone was begging for more Aragorn but I kinda want to see what he does with it tbh.

Viggo wouldn’t do it anyway if asked. He turned down The Hobbit. Since Aragorn isn’t in the book. Unlike Orlando Bloom. Who reprised his role as Legolas. But without John Rhys-Davies’ Gimli to bounce off, he’s totally exposed as the plank of wood actor he normally is.

But yeah this is based on Young Aragorn. So a recast makes sense. And de-aging Aragorn would be a total shit-show. Not that anyone should ever entertain the idea.

  13. I honestly cannot imagine anyone else in the role, Viggo is simply too perfect for it, who would even be a good candidate?

  14. I have… zero interest in this. And thats coming from someone who grew up on Peter Jackson’s masterpieces and went on to read the 12 volume extended history of middle earth. Just… why are we retreading this? Why are people so obsessed with gollum?!

  15. I’d say that’s a bad move but this a prequel so makes sense. But then again this whole movie is a bad idea.

Other than film executives who want some easy, creatively bankrupt money, who tf asked for this?

  16. I like Serkis and I think he’s a good actor and director, but I cannot see a point to telling this story outside milking Tolkien’s IP.

    >Plus, the ‘Super Mario Galaxy’ cast discuss who they want to play Princess Daisy in the sequel.

Was confused for a moment thinking they randomly asked Andy Serkis about this lmao

  18. Might be the most unnecessary movie ever made. Who gives a fuck about a seemingly unsuccessful quest for Gollum? And with Andy Serkis directing? Good luck.
