I got in a debate the other day that this scene from Troy is a better 1 vs 1 battle than the Paul Atreides ones in either Dune movie. Im a massive star wars fan so Luke vs Vedar in Empire is the goat to me. Anyways, I had the minority opinion but am curious what reddit thinks….

This is easily better than the Dune fights. Also kudos for choosing the one with the right music and not the Planet of Apes score in the director’s cut (weird choice).
such a great flick although i wish we got more screentime of Odysseus, Ajax and other supporting characters. Kinda miss when studios would greenlit a 150 million dollar R rated film and not water it down.

hector vs achilles is definitely a classic, but i think the intensity and depth in the Dune duels bring a different kind of weight, you know? but yeah, you can’t beat the nostalgia of that star wars showdown.
Every time I watch this scene I hope it magically changes with Hector winning. One of my favourite fight scenes of all time

I just felt bad for Hector. Achilles should have fought with a handicap or something. Demi gods shouldn’t go around challenging mortals. Greek morality is hard to relate to. The carnage that follows the fall of Troy is pretty brutal.
