You’d (mostly) be surprised about how much this whole thing is a non-issue in Brazil.
Flamengo just has too many fans (40+ million, who have nothing better to do), and they made a lot of noise regarding Jorginho bitching about the “incident”. Everyone that’s not a Flamengo supporter *knows* that it’s highly likely that nothing noteworthy happened, other than his daughter/stepdaughter/whatever heard a “no” for the first time.
Their fanbase can be very annoying, but most of their noise is tongue-in-cheek and I think a lot is lost in translation. The vast majority of people in Brazil couldn’t give fewer fucks to the whole thing (Rio’s mayor probably doesn’t care either, but he loves basking in the adoration of *flamenguistas*) and know that it’s a load of bullshit.
P.S.: As a metalhead, I’m not really familiar with Chappell Roan, so I’ve read a lot of takes that range from “she’s amazing” to “she sucks”, so I can’t speak anything regarding the way she interacts with her fans, but as a football fan, I know precisely who she’s dealing with when it comes to Flamengo, its players, its fans and the media surrounding them. So I won’t be surprised if it all indeed is revealed to be a big fat nothing burger.
