  1. Honestly… yeah, I can feel the magic coming back.

That was a great trailer imo. We all now the story and they picked some scenes that genuinely conveys the heart of it. It was just what was needed to give the vibe and feed the fans for the upcoming months. 🙂

Really looking forward to see all the little bits and characterisation of that story most of us book-readers know by heart on screen, and for the tale to breathe and take its time to tell it.

  2. It looks fine, but it also looks just like the movies. And the movies still exist.

Interesting that they’re calling it *Philosopher’s* stone even for the US release.

reddit’s not gonna like it but this is gonna be THE show for the next 10 years

God damn am I hyped right now. I know people think it’s unnecessary and it will take too long to make, but I got goosebumps when they cut to the Hogwarts shots.

  5. Fascinating how you can track the evolution of the “dip-shit haircut” by seeing the different generations of Draco Malfoy.

I know there’s been a lot of controversy around Harry Potter over the past couple years, and people have strong attachments to the original movies/cast and may feel it’s too soon to reboot this series, but…

This looks incredible. As someone who grew up absolutely enthralled by everything Harry Potter and initially had misgivings about a reboot, I couldn’t be more excited for this.

  7. A lot of it does feel like repeat of the films but overall I’m liking the look and the cinematography. The British school look is pretty nostalgic for me.

Nice to see that pretty much all of the characters are so instantly recognisable for who they are portraying and then you get to Snape who looks straight out of Twilight. Shame, considering they did so well with the rest.

  8. The child actors for Harry, Ron, and [especially Hermonie](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrsNeqANI3k) ([including the entire child cast](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fv80DLlUwNQ)) better stay as faraway from the Internet and Social Media for the next decade or two. The film series was lucky enough to conclude in 2012 before social media blew up! My heart goes out of them!

I really hope the new Harry Potter series won’t spawn another [Jake Lloyd (Young Anakin Skywalker) situation](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_GNgO79-Mk) with the child actors. Hell, recently Ahmed Best (Jar Jar Binks) revealed that he almost committed suicide over the amount of death threats and harrassment he gained over the years.

It’s pathetic how quick people are to give hatred and bigotry a pass because of some soulless nostalgic cash grab.

  10. it definitely worthed the wait. that trailer exceeded my expectations which were very very low. jesus im so hyped. and end of 2026. i was so okay with mid 2027.

I was excited when nick cave was cast as Hagrid but that voice is awful

  12. I don’t know about this. It is remarkable how far TV Shows have come in terms of production value but they still lack the movie “magic” (pun intended). This just looks like a blander version of the movies, and the trailer music is so distinctly modern that it broke all immersion. I feel no whimsy or wonder watching this.

  13. I can deal with the reboot, the recasting and probably all the alternative interpretations. But I have a nagging feeling it will all still feel wrong without John Williams’ music.

It looks well made… but it also just looks like the movies. Uncannily so, with some imagery and shots looking pretty near identical. Which then makes me wonder… what’s the point?

I think the whole thing looks a little flat.

It’s hard to tell from a trailer on YouTube obviously, but the colors, the shots, the lighting, it has that very ”modern TV show” look and I’m not a fan. The films, at least 1 through 5, all have a pretty distinct look to them and the cinematography keeps an overall high standard.

And the lack of all that much new design is kind of disappointing. I get that you don’t want to alienate the fanbase or merch sellers but couldn’t we be a bit more imaginative?

I will give it an honest chance but this teaser hardly blew me away.

  16. It’s not bad, but it looks like it’s missing the “magic”. Maybe it’s the photography or the music but it doesn’t breath “magic”

This looks good. Seems like they got the look bang on. Love it or hate it this is going to be huge

Not my kinda thing but this is going to get a whole generation back into Harry Potter.

This feels like I woke up in an alternate reality where the series all looks and sounds the same but the characters have different faces

I am very excited for this. Excited to watch with my kids as I watched as a kid

  20. Looks pretty good. From the trailer, it looks like they are taking the franchise seriously.

  21. The amount of people fine with giving a hateful bigot money and attention is incredibly disappointing; it’s no wonder things are as bad as they are

  22. Don’t hate the idea of an HP reboot, but I think they could’ve used this opportunity to lean more into the show’s difference from the movies, but it just seems so unnecessarily similar. Include more scenes from the source material that didn’t make the movies, please. Time will tell.

edit after a rewatch: even the way most of the scenes are shot seems identical to the original. Don’t see much new inspiration in the set design either.

  23. Just a reminder, any money Rowling gets from this is viewed by her as approval of her views on trans people, and is getting funneled into fighting against trans rights in the UK.

You can care about that or not, but everyone should know what it means to support her.
