There are so many things that surprised me when I watched this as a kid. The fact that they used a mannequin to trick him, the fact that they thought to put the cable under the puddle where he couldn’t see it, the fact that they knew that the car was heavy enough to carry Neville’s weight, the fact that they rigged a pully system and a snare to actually catch him
All of this made the theatrical ending really disappointing when compared to the alternate ending
