I was watching the wizard of oz and then I realized that these 2 scenes are very similar just though I'd share!

  1. Is the scene in Inglorious bastards where the german notices fassbender isn’t who he seems based on his hand gesture based on the scene from Aliens where ripley sees that Bishop isn’t who he seems based on the white fluid coming from his cut hand?

Very similar situation conveyed with very similar cinematography.

  2. In the Rookie of the Year credits the old guy character is named “The Wizard of Wrigley”, so it’s definitely an homage.

  3. Also, did you know the team in the movie is based on a real-life baseball team from Chicago?

Not just the door and the guy, but the “horse of a different color” line is a reference to the color changing horse.

The ran all movies through a computer and Wizard of Oz was not only the most referenced movie in shout outs, but shot compositions as well.

  7. Daniel Stern, the director of the movie (who also played Marv in “Home Alone”!) talks about that scene [in this article right here. ](https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/1705383/2020/04/03/rookie-of-the-year-the-secrets-of-rowengartners-fastball-with-the-films-stars/) Yes it was influenced by the Wizard of Oz.

    >” I just thought, “you know, I want Henry to enter a new world when those doors open. He is going into the unknown.” And the “Wizard of Oz” theme kind of hit me. So I had them build that cutout door like it was “The Wizard of Oz.” Those doors were so huge and Henry was so small that I thought it would look great.”
