Joe Kent has resigned as Director of the U.S. National Counterterrorism Center: “[Iran] posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby.”

He’s not wrong about the war, but he’s still an asshole, he’s had no problem with the other shit that’s being done

Wow a republican standing ten toes down, I’m impressed!! Guess Trump is going to have something ugly to say about this soon.

  3. I’m not going to give any credit to anyone who spent a year in this administration (and is anti-vax, etc.)

The thing is… all the republicans feel this way but are too chicken shit to say anything

    > During his 2022 congressional campaign, Kent paid Graham Jorgensen, a member of the far-right military group the Proud Boys, for consulting work. He also worked closely with Joey Gibson, the founder of the Christian nationalist group Patriot Prayer, and attracted support from a variety of far-right figures.

I’m guessing his reasons for not wanting the U.S. to fight for Israel are a bittt different then supporting Palestinians

Hopefully this is where republicans start jumping ship to save their own asses.

Always interesting to see people you vehemently disagree with 99.9% of the time (“I support the values and foreign policies you campaigned on in 2016, 2020, 2024,” he writes, woof) draw a line in the sand. This war is not going remotely how Trump & co anticipated.

  8. I like that he’s saying the quiet part out loud. I don’t like that it seems like another person with good sense is leaving this admin and no one is left who will challenge him.

Trump won’t even finish reading the second paragraph. It probably won’t even make it to his desk.

Can someone with flair post to r/conservative? I’m sure they’re sheltered from this information.

Just a reminder that one of the surest tells for antisemitism on the left/center/trying-to-disguise-themselves-neo-nazis (Kent is the latter) is if you think Israel is the patron and the U.S. the client, rather than the other way around.

This narrative of the admin being deceived by Israel allows them to escape blame and allows this to happen over and over. Pinning Trump’s choices on Israel is absurd when he’s already pivoting to “take over” Cuba.

(To be clear, I believe in a one-state solution of the nation of Palestine and an end to US imperialism.)

  12. I liked the part where he bootlicked Trump through the entire resignation letter instead of calling him out for his actions.

  13. Won’t move any needles. And sorry for your loss Joe, but you’re equally complicit

I wish these people would STAY in those positions, and argue back.

Instead, the idiot will just put another ass kisser who isn’t qualified in the role.

Ooof well that’s damning if nothing else. More people in important positions need to speak up before the roots of facism dig themselves in too deep.

Shame on him for following that fool in the first place. The time to stand up was before he got into office. I am not impressed by those who had to be slapped in the face to understand that getting slapped hurts. All of them are terrible people. He is even STILL praising the fool in his letter. Who will tell Trump the truth!? What is going on?

Does this mean 22 year old former HEB grocery store clerk Thomas Fugate gets a promotion?

I applaud him for standing on his convictions. It was a very smartly worded resignation letter, filled with praise for Dear Leader and casting the mistake as the work of people deceiving him, which might actually allow Trump to hear his message.
