hot take but as a huge fan, this is for the best IMO. there has not been a single contemporary reboot of a beloved 90s/aughts show that i think has pulled it off. i’d rather keep the legacy pristine.

For the best, but it still makes me sad I don’t get to watch SMG be Buffy again.

Wow, I assumed it was already filmed and we’d be getting a teaser soon. Feels like it was announced years ago.

I am ok with this. Make original content and let us keep our memories of our 90s shows in tact.

  5. Oh, I thought it had been greenlight for a full season. Are we back to doing pilots?

    Was Hulu the only option?

With how they keep repeating movies, I thought for sure this would get picked up.

  7. While I’ve gotten burnt out on all the endless reboots of shows from the 90s and early 2000s, I am surprised they didn’t go forward with this especially since Chloe Zhao was involved and could have easily used the fact that she’s an Oscar winner in the marketing

As much as it’s probably for the best, I just wanted some Buffy/Faith scenes where they’ve both matured 😭

She’s back in big Hollywood movies, it may have even just been scheduling issues. I’m sure she is about to be in a lot more films. Fingers crossed 🤞

So does this mean it’s not going ahead with Hulu or not going ahead at all with any network/streamer? I was actually looking forward to it a little bit.

Just remember that Disney doesn’t really seem to know what a larger audience wants with their reboots.

They fumbled the Lizzie McGuire reboot hard.

They fumbled the Daredevil reboot so hard that they had to refilm it halfway through the production of the first season, and it ended up just okay.

They took Marvel, one of the most successful franchises of all time, and dug it into the ground in a matter of years. They simply don’t know what they’re doing.

I feel like a movie would have been a more appropriate follow-up IF it were guaranteed to be flawless. A series, to me, felt like biting off more than anyone would want to chew

    Quit monetizing millennial nostalgia!

Let the past be the past til it’s weightless.

The Gellar-curse is still strong and alive.

But sadly I am not surprised. You do not show a pilot like this months ago with no news of a pick up

  15. Well, I feel bad for SMG, I’m sure she worked so hard on this. But Buffy is just great as it is, an iconic show. Best to let it be.

While this is sad – my bigger complaint is the head writers for Poker Face Nora and Lilla Zuckerman left to write for the Buffy Reboot. Basically breaking Poker Face for nothing.

Seems like they were hyping it up for a while, though. It’s kind of surprising.

Wasn’t there rumblings about how good it was and Hulu was happy about it? wtf happened

ngl, this is a good thing. i’m yet to see more than one single reboot actually be good (that one being x-men)
