Agreed. He has spoken openly about using alcohol to cope with anxiety during Harry Potter. So many child stars could have used therapy.

I agree. Better yet, no child actors….? Like it’s weird that child labour laws get thrown out the window for Hollywood. It would also be weird to just never have child characters in anything, but idk if it’s ever very ethical tbh. (But also please no AI child actors.) At the VERY least, way more needs to be done to ensure the safety, well-being (emotional, mental, and physical), and agency of these kids.

Just look at all the child actors and child pop stars. Not many come through to adult hood sane or not addicted to booze or drugs. Quite a few are molested, too.
Therapy is a must.

Or maybe there just shouldnt be such a thing as a full time child actor and all the rules and regulations should be much tighter? Stopping them from needing therapy in the first place should really be the goal here tbh.

Great take honestly. Should be enshrined in law

Should be added to the protections they have. In addition to limited hours, mandated schooling, etc etc.
I mean MOST actors could use it.

It sounds like Daniel had some supportive parents who didn’t push him, too, and working throughout his childhood still affected him negatively.
Children are meant to spend their time learning, exploring, and playing, so even if they are being treated well by everyone around them, they’re still giving up a crucial developmental period to work. This can affect them for the rest of their lives.
Add Harry Potter levels of fame to that… even the best parents would be out of their depth.

Considering the extensive history of child acting, Daniel is 100% dead on the money.
