    Jack White speaks out following backlash from Swifties after clickbait articles made it look like he called Taylor Swift’s songwriting ‘boring’: “It encourages artists to give “safe” answers to any question & stifles artistic vision & imagination & pushes all of us to not share anything interesting”

      People can’t read or only read headlines and then get pissed that they interpret things wrong. Taylor Swift’s fans are absolutely ridiculous.

      Even if he’d said she was boring for constantly writing about relationships/breakups, he wouldn’t have been wrong.

      Like, it sucks that he’s being quoted out of context in an attempt to farm for views, but wtf did he think would happen when he mentioned Taylor Swift?

      It’s really shitty that he’s trying to blame the journalist/editor/interviewer here when the *Guardian* printed *the exact words he said*. The fault lies with White choosing to bring her up and the shitty websites twisting his words in an effort to get engagement from her devoted fanbase, NOT with the *Guardian* or the person who did this interview (and is now going to receive shit from both Jack White fans AND TSwift fans).

      Honestly even if he said Taylor Swift’s writing was boring, why is that wrong/bad? I’ve listened to both of them and objectively there’s a lot more going on with Jack White’s songwriting than Taylor Swift’s. Every single song of hers seems to mention what she was wearing, for instance, when it’s unnecessary and silly. I just think Swifties are afraid to admit their favorite artist is kinda shallow.

      Like okay Swifties, go scorched earth doxing me for saying so or whatever but I also am not afraid to admit some of my favorites are vapid, self obsessed losers.

      It’s always baffled me how swifties think that Taylor Swifts writing is high poetry when there are dozens of other artists, even in the mainstream, writing better and more interesting lyrics than her. Do they just not listen to any other music or what??

      If I was a publicist for any artist, I’d advise them to not mention Taylor Swift at all.

      Whether she’s mentioned by the interviewer or the interviewee, the story almost always ends up becoming about her. It overshadows everything else.

      Do any of us really need to give that lady any more attention?

      I think this is his way of saying “I am too private of a person to be comfortable sharing my personal life in music” especially since he used to be married to Meg White who he also worked with.

      So, I interpreted this as “I don’t want my personal life on display for all to see. MY breakups are boring.” No shade imo.

      Music is subjective, he doesn’t need to like that particular style of songwriting. And him not liking it doesn’t mean no one can like it. I love Chappell Roan but not everyone does and that’s fine.

      To see people ride or die for a problematic billionaire who takes every opportunity to fleece her fans and is genuinely not a good person for a stupid reason such as someone not liking her music is so strange. She’s not your friend, she’s the thirty something year old teenager that wants your money.

      People are allowed to have their own opinions on music. I’ve always thought Taylor Swift is boring. Everyone has their own likes and dislikes. That’s what makes life interesting!
