I think this is great news, but unfortunately some people are mad at it.

Recently a female uber driver was murdered by a male passenger who had used his girlfriend’s account to order the ride. Predatory men will always find a way to hurt women. It makes me sick that precautions like this not only have to be taken but are still not enough to keep women safe.

I have been hit on by about 50% of the male Uber/lyft drivers I’ve had. It’s frankly a little exhausting and ridiculous.
I usually just tell them I’m not interested and they shut up but a few times I’ve had to get rude and tell them to fuck off.

This will only work if there are actual consequences for drivers who misrepresent themselves. Too many times to count I’ve had the thumbnail headshot of the driver be of a woman and but the person that shows up is a man. Less serious but equally annoying is when your “Comfort” or “Preferred” vehicle is a 10-year old Civic or Versa.

I (fortunately) have never personally had an unpleasant Uber experience, but I would use this service just to support female drivers who want to feel safer. They must endure all kinds of threatening behavior from men just based on the sheer amount of people they encounter.

Anyone can identify their way into womanhood now so this is totally fucking useless

I will never forget when a male driver commented that he knew where I lived. This is awesome.

This is a great idea. The last few times I’ve taken an uber one guy asked me if I was breastdfeeding (?????????) and another guy asked me if I wanted him to come in when we got to my house and watch WWII docs.
