  1. In a couple of years series will have 4 episodes until they become basically movies

  2. What an insane decision. The books get more expansive, not less so telling increasingly complex storylines using less real estate seems like a recipe for disaster.

I am shocked that the show runners would do something like this a second time /s

  4. Great, really improved the quality of the last show the showrunners did when it reduced the episode count too!

  5. Unless the minute count is still similar, I’m very underwhelmed by this news. This isn’t an adaption that will do well with reductions…

  6. God I love waiting years between seasons and only getting a half dozen episodes, thank you so much.

Modern TV programming is so damn stupid.

This line really stood out to me from the article: “We have seen a growing trend of “prestige” dramas moving away from the traditional 8- or 10-episode structure in their later years.”

Truly crazy how 8-10 is considered “traditional”. I remember the not too distant past where 13 was the bare minimum for a “prestige” drama.

In 20 years we’ll be waiting 6 years for a singular 30 minute episode

Why even bother then?? Wait two years for six more episodes??? Then what? Another three years for four episodes with a mid-season break of six months? Foh

6 episodes for ‘Dark Forest’ is doable but there’s no way you can adapt ‘Deaths end’ in 5 episodes and make it satisfying

8 episodes already felt like too low for stuff like Doctor Who, I truly cant handle entering the 6 episode season era, what a mess.

  11. 3 years for 6 episodes? I wish I could average 1 unit of work every 6 months and get paid millions.

  12. It’s fine, I’m sure the source material gets much shorter for the remaining story

  13. It always starts with reduction. Unless you’re cutting away all the drama. Then it’s okay.

You know what, No, the drama level in the first season was good. And did a great job as to be part of the story. Hopefully the next season is just as or better than the first. Can’t wait to find out.

6 episodes will be the new norm soon. Then 4, then 2, then no more TV and just movies. After which of course they’ll blame audiences for not watching enough.

These short season shows with years between seasons are basically just modern made-for-TV movies. Gone is the concept of 26 episode yearly TV seasons.

next season will be 4 episodes with 2 bonus episodes if you pay 100 dollars

Well, that worked out great for last season of GoT, didn’t it…

Anyway, Chinese tv series adaptation was awesome, I personally highly recommend

  18. FFS. Yay, let’s condense a super intricate and incredibly convoluted story into even fewer episodes 🙃

Because reducing the episode count worked so well for the showrunners the last time they did it

  20. What the heck, 6 episodes is nuts. How much of the book are they going to be able to cover in 6 episodes?

  21. Wow I was wondering how they were going to make it worse like they did GoT, but instead they decided to shorten the suffering.

Season 3 will be tiktok shorts.

  22. As a fan, I hope it dies a quick death. How Netflix spends so much money on producing cheap-looking shows, I’ll never understand. Lord knows the money isn’t in the writers room
