“Early on, George was like, 'Just don’t call it ‘Dunk & Egg’ — it sounds like ‘Laverne & Shirley.’ It sounds like a sitcom.' I said, "Oh, absolutely fine,'" Parker recalled. "As it got really late in the game when we were putting the final touches in the post-production process, I did sort of waver a little bit. I said, 'Everyone’s just gonna call it ‘Dunk & Egg,’ so why don’t we call it that?' Then I was talked down by my assistant that it wasn’t a wise idea. And I agree. It’s nice to see a show called 'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,' and come there to find out that it is just a little lighter and has some fun, rather than setting people up with 'Dunk & Egg' and you sort of know what you’re gonna get. I hope.”

The only problem with the title, aside from being wordy, is that Dunk and Egg won’t actually get to visit all Seven Kingdoms in the show. First two stories are set in the Reach, the third in the Riverlands.

  2. I call it Dunk & Egg but I agree with what they’re saying lol. If that were the title it would’ve affected the expectation of the tone and themes. With that being said though I think the name should’ve been something about the two of them and their journey rather than just about the knight

  3. I’m burned out on Game of Thrones, but I think a sitcom in Westeros would actually pull me back in.

I can’t stand it being called Dunk & Egg when his name is Duncan. It should be Dunc & Egg.

  5. How else would we get that great anecdote with the title card reading “A Knight of the Nine Kingdoms” at the end of the season finale?

  6. I thought it’d be called The Hedge Knight.

There have been several times when I’ve almost recommended this show to someone irl but backed out because I couldn’t be bothered to say its full name. They should have picked something short and memorable.

Thats a stupid name. Ohhh what hijinx are Dunk & Egg going to get into this week. Maybe date the same guy, or mistakenly plan 2 dates on the same night!

  8. I like the title A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, because in my mind, there are a lot more knights that we could tell stories about, Dunk & Egg get a few seasons to tell their story, then let’s follow another knight, etc, etc.
