Matthew Lillard if Billy and Stu are gay: “If there’s a kid out there who needs these two characters to be gay because they’re a horror fan, and that somehow makes them feel seen, then I will stand chest-out and say they’re two gay young men, and there’s nothing you can f*cking do about it.”
“Over the years it’s developed that we are these two young gay boys. Somebody called us ‘the First Husbands of Horror,’ and I think the two of us really glommed onto that.”
This just brought years to my eyes. I won’t even try to explain it away or apologize for being a sap – this type of allyship and empathy is beautiful and extremely needed.

I’m like 99.5% sure Kevin Williamson has explicitly said they were definitely a thing. (he’s the writer of)

This is a nice sentiment… But it sends me that we’re talking about two teen serial killers 😭

growing up in the south i was a closeted, horror obsessed child who found much solace in film and television, so hearing both him + leigh whannell and james wan of saw backing stuff like this has done my heart so much good. 🖤

Just one of the most quality famous people to ever come out of my generations zeitgeist. Give this man all the roles.

I loved him then, and I love him now. This is what allyship looks like.

I think queer peoples relationship to horror and gay characters is a bit more nuanced than “if there’s a kid out there who needs these two characters to be gay…and that somehow makes them feel seen”, but yeah I like when writers, directors, actors double down on this stuff.

Matthew Lillard is such a great person it seems. Wish more people would take a note from him
He’s been consistent on this front, and I love that he is.
Matthew Lillard is a very good person. End of line.
The more I know about Matthew, the more I like him. Unfortunately, the opposite is true for Tarantino, so.
Scary movie did it better I’m sorry. I like scream but scary movie did the gay angle better.
Mark Hamill said the exact same thing about Luke Skywalker.
