  1. Of course I adore the finale like any human with eyes and ears, but there’s always been something really clunky to me about the sequence of shots where DDL shoots Steven Waddington. Not only is there a very rushed build up, there’s no wide shot to really show the geography of the scene – just close up/close up/close up/close up while they’re dozens of meters away. I’m guessing they just didn’t film a good wide and had to do what they needed to in the edit suite.

It’s almost its own 7 minute short film, nearly zero words, tons of emotion.

  3. I read the book and loved it. The movie completely changed the ending and killed off the wrong characters. I really disliked that. They turned it from an action adventure story into a love story. It’s good cinema on its own, I just hate how much they changed it.

  4. Saw this for the first time a few months ago, really kicking myself for not watching it sooner. The final act is just perfection, and the rest ain’t half bad either. Also loved the surprise appearance of a young Jared Harris.

Excellent scene on so many regards.

As a kid I always hated the woman jumping because the others were right there, and I was used to the herontrope of being able to go through numerous hench men. But for the character its a reasonable choice and she doesn’t know the others are close by
