Because we’re run by a bunch of bullies who peaked in high school and are desperate to relive those glory days.
Back then, “strength” to them meant picking on people who couldn’t fight back and they thought they could get away with it. It was about reinforcing the playground hierarchy where they were on top.
They just extended that to its logical conclusion once they got their hands on the world’s most powerful military.
