Journalist tells ESPN off after ESPN requests to use his media: “You do not have permission to use it — as l’ve told you numerous times in DMs. Shouldn’t have laid off all those reporters if you wanted locker room content.”

ESPN is owned by Disney and Hearst Communications. Both worth billions.

The fact that he already told them “no” multiple times in private DMs, and they still tried to pressure him in the public replies only to get absolutely incinerated like this?. Pure cinema

ESPN decisions have been weird as of recent years. Laying off so many reporters. Not renewing contracts of popular news casters for no obvious reasons, except probably not wanting to spend the money, and then the new ones they hire aren’t good. I mean it all probably comes down to money, but it’s all super disappointing

What’s better than having employees? Having independent contractors for whom we don’t offer benefits! What’s better than that? Being predatory towards independent journalists in hopes of begging them for the rights to any content we want to use at any given time for “exposure.”

Dane is the fucking man.
I’ll never forget when he took a shot at Gersson Rosas and his mistress after that story came out.

YES JOURNALISTS!!! Idc what you’re covering – this kind of retort is exactly what we were taught to do in journalism school. Keep your integrity and your foot on their necks.💪

Just another example of ESPN being awful at everything. Doesn’t surprise me they would ask despite having correspondence from him. I doubt whoever sent that post out asking (if it isn’t some AI bot) checked or cared for prior responses.
