Tons of MST3K subjects have posters far more impressive than the actual movies, especially back in the 50s/60s/70s.
One big example is “The Giant Spider Invasion.” Looking at the genuinely awesome poster, you’d be never guess the titular arachnid is a Volkswagen covered in shag carpeting with legs sticking out the windows.
