  1. There goes Timothee’s chances for winning the Oscar this year. Congrats to Michael B Jordan. This Awards season is really wild for acting categories. Amy might win the Oscar as well.

  2. Huge night for Sinners. All logic would dictate that OBAA is still winning best picture but if you’re a Sinners fan looking for hope, I think this proves it’s not out of the race yet.

i am kind of surprised michael b jordan was even nomianted. i loved sinners but i didnt walk away from it feeling like it was because of michael b jordans acting.

  4. Michael B Jordan was nowhere near Chalamet or DiCaprio. No disrespect to him, he’s a star. But cmon now

Michael B Jordan winning is craaaaazy. He was the worst part of an otherwise really fun movie

  6. Can we all agree to stop letting Hollywood shove Timmy C down our throats?

    He wasn’t great in anything.

  7. Timmy losing the Oscar because of a guy with Tourette’s can’t cope with this right now

I watched Weapons and didn’t realize it was Amy Madigan in that role! She played it bizarrely well! It’s good to see her in a recent movie!

Michael B. Jordan is an actor who is elevated by a good script, but he won’t elevate a bad script. He’s not a bad actor by any means, but I’ve just never gotten the hype. Even back when he was on FNL. There were a lot better performances this year.

Makes things a little more interesting, the only one of the 4 acting awards + BP that is a true lock now is Jessie Buckley. They’ll probably still give PTA directing and adapted screenplay, but the door is definitely open for Sinners to win BP

  11. SAG ensemble. The WGA for original next. That’s all you need for BP.

    Worked for Crash

What the heck? I watched the entire ceremony and didn’t see Amy Madigan win. When did it happen in the show?

  13. Timothee might be hurting from over-exposure here. He might have campaigned a little too hard. Oscar race is still open.

  14. Some thoughts:

    * Sinners definitely feels more along the ensemble that SAG would go for compared to One Battle so I expected it to win. Glad it finally got a big win somewhere.
    * Jessie Buckley solidifies her sweep. First Best Actress sweep since Renee Zellwegger in Judy.
    * Sean Penn winning both BAFTA and SAG I think just won him his third Oscar, at least someone from One Battle. He won his first ever BAFTA and now becomes the first male actor to win both Lead and Supporting. Also if he wins the Oscar this makes this his third in a row where he ruins career/overdue narratives (Bill Murray, Mickey Rourke, Stellan/Lindo lol)
    * Amy Madigan surges back with a win here in Supporting Actress over people in stronger movies. This tracks considering SAG likes to award veteran/overdue people tbh. Makes the race a lot more exciting since this category is all over the place.
    * Michael B Jordan finally wins a major industry award! I kinda had him winning in my predictions mostly because SAG never awards two in a row and I thought Sinners was gonna take the prize. Glad to see him get a big boost. Chalamet is def in danger now considering he now lost a major industry award to someone from a Top 2 movie.
    * Oscar voting just began a couple of days ago so we’ll see how much these winners influence the voting.
    * Sinners is still #2 atm but it could Parasite its way to a win with just SAG Ensemble momentum even after losing PGA/DGA with how enthusiastic the crowd was tonight.
    * That In Memoriam segment was gut-wrenching. Too many legends lost in succession

That’s trouble for my boy Timmy Chal. We’ll see what happens; personally I always find an actor playing more than one character to make it more difficult for either performance to really stand out, but the the technical aspects to what Jordan did in Sinners (passing the cigar, for one flashy example) were very impressive and I mean at the end of the day I’m not gonna root *against* him lol; big fan of the guy I even liked the directorial decisions he made on Creed 3 and I might be in the minority there

Illegal on reddit but… Put Wunmi Mosaku in for supporting over Aunt Gladys and I’d take it for Oscars. Smoke and Annie are very important to me. 🤭

I hope Chalamet doesn’t get that Oscar. Not because he was bad in Marty Supreme (he’s actually very good in it and I like the film) but because of the amount of ego, bravado and vainglory in that scrawny body is as unreal as his lust to win that Oscar. Oddly enough, Leo (who also whined about not getting an Oscar until they gave him one for The Revenant) would be my pick to win the Best Actor Oscar.

  18. Okay so I have no clue who’s gonna win the best actor Oscar, that’s what I’m getting from this

I think MBJ was the weakest actor in this category. He played the same, shallow character twice.

I feel like I’m living in an alternate reality with how much love Sinners is getting. I don’t get it.
