Eliminating whole swaths of the media and bringing these entities in line with the regime’s belief system is worth 100 times that price.

  2. *”this transaction was always a ‘nice to have’ at the right price, not a ‘must have’ at any price.”*

Paramount was already leaking money, they might as well leak some more

  3. Netflix basically got paid for showing up, and Paramount just ate the bill to win the bid.

If you ever needed proof that streaming consolidation money is unreal, this is it.

  4. They made out pretty nice. Got 2.8B for doing nothing, then in 5 years will probably be able to get WB and Paramount for less than they were going to get WB for.

  5. Looks like Paramount was willing to win at any price.. really wish Netflix had bid them up higher before giving up.

  6. Imaging being billions in debt but paying 3 billion to win a property that will put you further in debt while all the board members still get paid millions

Ellison is going to mismanage this acquisition/business. Selling off one or both movie studios within 2 years. Netflix will be fine, may acquire another studio or be acquired (Apple?). Just a thought.

Anyone who says the US has a capitalist system is lying or undeducated. It is all about building a monopoly or oligopoly (just a few that control the whole market).

  9. This is so sad especially knowing Larry Ellison is such a Zionist.

He gutted tik tok of activism and I can only imagine what will happen to Superman.

  10. Netflix laughing all the way to the bank while Zaslav got the last laugh at Paramount’s initial hostile takeover lowball.

We all still lose in the end, but at least those two parties have got to be happy.

  11. How often does something like this happen? I know we’re living in different times but almost 3 BILLION is some sort of cancellation fee!?

  12. More money than all of us combined will ever earn and work with just thrown away. That’s fucking rich.

There’s no way this purchase makes financial sense, not at that price with the contract fee on top of it.

This has to be about bending the media landscape to an ideology.

Netflix pulling the ol’ switcheroo on a declining, money losing asset is pretty genius of them actually.

  15. Welp, will not be supporting any WB movie or show if this goes through.

Goodbye DC, Game of Thrones, etc.

  16. What happens if the shareholders don’t accept it and vote against the Paramount’s deal? They would go back to Netflix?

  17. Somehow Netflix always ends up on top. Mark my words. From the moment I started receiving my three DVDs a month in the mail with no penalty or late fees, I realized I was dealing with a kind of magical company that was rewriting the rules of business.
