We all once lived that same day, and it’s true that for whatever reason it only happens once never to be repeated in the same way which is exactly why it sticks with you so much in later life. Thank you to Rob Reiner the crew and cast for allowing me to revisit that day whenever I watch this movie, it means so much having it come to the big screen. Counting the days for yet another return to that special day.

And if your parents are too fucked up to do it, then maybe I should.”
Oh it is just phenomenal, perhaps the best Stephen King adaptation out there.

This was on TV when my sister was babysitting me. I was incredibly young, younger than was probably appropriate, the leech scene still messes with me. I still remember my parents getting mad at my sister for freaking me out. Lol.

I watched this movie a lot as a kid. There’s a quote, near the end, where the adult Gordie says, “I never had any friends later on like the ones I did when I was 12. Jesus, does anyone?” I remember hearing this quote at the age of 12 and thinking to myself that that was ridiculous, that the friends I had at the time were going to be my friends forever. I recently watched it again in my 30s after not having seen it for at least 15 years and that quote actually made me choke up. I don’t talk to the friends I had when I was 12. We grew up and grew apart. And the real meaning of that quote hit me like a ton of bricks.

In this special edition release of Stand By Me, Pennywise makes several appearances and at some point the kids nearly avoid getting hit by a truck with a Green Goblin face on it

Check out “The Body” if you haven’t. The novella this was adapted from. If anything just to see how much they nailed it. Practically a word for word adaptation at some points. Just know the book is a lot darker on the fates of all the boys.
