I fully understand this, as someone who has also experienced infidelity. Realizing that someone chose to put your health at risk can be deeply shocking. I swore off intimacy for a long time and only resumed with complete precautions taken. It’s a personal choice that I’m thankful my partner respects. A lot of people find it ridiculous to use condoms with a long term partner, but I don’t care. I will never put my sexual health completely in the hands of a partner again. I’ve seen too many deeply trustworthy people still choose to knowingly endanger their partners. If something still happens despite protection, at least I tried.
