Variety is now claiming Melissa Barrera was quietly dropped from Scream 7. In reality, Spyglass told Variety and Variety published she was let go due to antisemitism. Don’t let Variety and Spyglass rewrite what they did. Melissa was not quietly let go, she was publicly smeared.

It absolutely was not a case of someone being quietly dropped. I had never heard of Melisa Barrera and then I was reading about her being fired for supporting Palestinians. This was about as quiet as an air horn.
It wasn’t even anti-semitism. It was pro-Palestine remarks

I have the fear that the boycott won’t work because this will be a Israel – Eurovision situation. people who otherwise would’ve never seen the movie will go buy tickets (and maybe not even watch it) to prove a political point.

Anyone who remained aligned was OK with the star (and Jenna Ortega) being removed for supporting oppressed people. She said nothing anti-semetic, she was simply pro-Palestine, which should not be a controversial take.

They loudly and proudly labeled her an antisemite for standing up for Palestine. Fuck Spyglass, fuck the Scream 7 team (especially those with big enough careers who didn’t need this movie), and fuck Variety.
I assume the torrent will be available reasonably soon if anyone is keen to see it but wants to boycott any money going to those who let her down….Hopefully the boycott will kill the franchise…It died the moment Barrera was fired…
