  1. The best seat at AMC is dead center in row 2 near the screen because nobody else wants to sit there

  2. Yeah I don’t give a shit about the “best seat” I just don’t want to sit next to anyone or be “locked in” a row when the show starts.

  3. Even as someone whos had premiere and had this company swallow up CT’s indie film market… this feels like a weird move.

  4. “Rather than figure out how to improve our products and services, we’ve made an imaginary tollgate gate you’ll have to pay your way through.” -AMC, apparently

  5. Personally, I don’t care where I sit but wouldn’t this be a bad choice because then now those seats are empty and it would make the rest of the theater more cramped and uncomfortable?

Plus, those premium seats would likely be empty for certain viewings.

This is a terrible idea because it just makes a bad movie experience and would NOT incentivize me to pay more.

  6. “at no additional charge?” bruh, I literally have to pay extra for seats I didn’t have to before.

I wonder how they define the best seats. As an often solo viewer, my favorite seats are the ones in the aisle above handicap spaces and one away from the stairs. Either side.

  8. This is so stupid but hey I’m an A Lister so I’ll take it but how will this even work with guests? Like if I go with non a-lister people are they screwed or can I just buy all their tickets and they get to sit with me? I assume they’re dumping that onto the operations arm of the business and this was just a mandate from the CEO to add more perks to increase A List members by the fourth quarter

As an AList Premiere member, if i don’t get a seat i want, I just go back and see the movie again (if it’s worth it) and get a better seat.

But I guess if some people sign up just to get good seats, then, cool, I guess.

  10. I don’t do any theater pass. I’m lucky enough to have a good Regal, AMC, Cinemark etc near me. I plan my movie trip around best screen and comfortable seats.

If AMC implements this, then I’m not going to them anymore lol.

Differently priced seating, potentially narrower theatrical windows under Netflix… The end goal is to charge for movies like they’re concerts, isnt’t it.

Improve the offering and experience? Naw, we’ll just make it more annoying to get the same service.

  13. How to kill your business in one easy step. I’m tired of handing over all my data so these corps can sell it or use it to manipulate me. “Rewards” programs have always been a scam. Now you have to sign up to get a decent seat? Fuck off.

  14. Great now the first two rows closest to the screen will be reserved for the members? Man those are my go to seats, they’re the best!

“Best seats” 🤣 So, the ones with the least amount of boogers crusted onto the fabric?

  16. Its wild to me that people are still trying to defend the theatrical model when actors/directors/producers are payed obscene amounts of money regardless and theater chains would rather do this as well as sell overpriced tickets and snacks instead of improving the experience.

  17. We have their membership and this still seems stupid to me.

The only thing I need from AMC is for them to do something to discourage people from talking during the movie.

  18. It’s already bad enough that different showtimes have different prices. I’m not paying for this.

  19. Well considering assigned seating was already negatively impacting my visits, if I had second thoughts and wanted to watch a movie it won’t be amc

  20. AMC has been on my shit list since 2020 when they characterized masking as a political issue. They’ve experimented with surge pricing. And run way too many commercials before the movie. And, I’ve personally experienced AMC cancelling movies at my local theater that I bought a ticket for in advance and I only found out when I got the theater. They can suck my whole ass.

  21. At my local AMC, what you would think are the “best” seats, aren’t quite the best seats because some screens are so off center, that you need to get the seat close to the edge to be centered with the screen.
