I picked up an illustrated storybook version of this at the store back when it was out, and the last page just said something like *they defeated the Carnotaurs and everybody reached the Nesting Grounds.*
You want the ending, better go see the movie.

I was a huge dinosaur fan as a kid and I was 10 when this came out. I remember seeing the ad for this in 99 and being scared that y2k would happen and I wouldn’t get to see this movie

I love when using a nonhuman viewpoint makes something that might be familiar to a human watcher into cosmic horror. these animals are incapable of wrapping their minds around a big world ending space rock, all they know is that they saw something mysterious and beautiful and now their world is gone

This is a lot like the movie The Impossible about the 2004 Christmas tsunami, but instead of 3-4 posh English people surviving while the huddled masses of browns die, it’s these lemur things.

Never saw this one, but remember it not being well received. Impressive animation for the time, but it seems like a real miss by Disney to not make their cartoon characters look like cartoons. IMHO you need that overly cartoonish look to be able to make the characters appealing and convey relatable emotion in animation. Especially in reptiles, which are naturally pretty unappealing to a lot of people.

Never forget that Disney used a damn Lords of Acid song (The Crablouse) for the trailer to this movie. Absolutely mind-blowing at the time.

Walt Disney’s [Dinosaurs](https://manapop.com/film/dinosaur-2000-review/) may be a little too similar plot-wise to Don Bluth’s [The Land Before Time](http://manapop.com/film/the-land-before-time-1988-review/), but the photo-realistic depictions of dinosaurs push such concerns to the background as one must marvel at the technical achievement the artists at Disney pulled off.
