  1. Iirc the aliens were liquifying the bodies, transforming the liquid into a fertilizer that they would then spray on the ground to terraform the planet for their kind.

    Thats dark as hell.

  2. For all the criticism this movie (I think rightfully) gets, the tripods are awesome. Love both the physical and the sound design so much.

Good “character” design. Even if I really dislike this movie, and I’m a fan of aliens and Spielberg, usually

  4. The effects in this look 100x better than whatever the fuck they were thinking with Disclosure Day.

  5. I’ve seen this movie before and only now, at this exact moment, I wonder why would they kill people here and then capture some for the blood drinking or wtvr it is they were doing? Why render your food (?) useless?

  6. In the end, it was not guns or bombs that defeated the aliens, but that humblest of all God’s creatures, the Tyrannosaurus Rex.

  7. I wish this movie was more rewatchable. I’ve seen it a few times and there are some incredible set pieces that pull me in, but it just over-indexes on fucked up, horrifying stuff for it to be “fun” to watch. I feel like I’m left with this feeling of utter despair when it ends even with the Hollywood ending.

Scary Movie has made it so I can’t watch this scene without thinking of the bit with the dude trying to unlock the car for 2 minutes

  9. Never have seen that movie…

What are those rays they shoot at the people… partially it seems to transform them, then they also see to have concussive force…

As brutal as the aliens were the movie very much focused on how terrible humans can be in these situations. That scene when the van was taken was intense.

  11. I wish they could remaster this movie without that shitty color grading. It’s so good I bet it would look awesome with a more rich color palette.

  12. I’ve never seen this movie since I can’t stand Tom Cruise. This clip looks very Michael Bay-esque, kinda surprised this is Spielberg.
