This makes my blood boil. She is so brave.

I remember when this story broke, and being about 8 years old asking my mom “Does this mean that something bad like this could happen to me?”
She said, “No, because that girl was being grown.” I’m sure she doesn’t remember saying that. But I’m looking at this child’s face and wondering how an adult can shamelessly 1) harm a child and 2) say she deserved it for “being grown”.

I have a niece who turns 14 this year and I would burn down the world if something like that happened to her.

I’m glad she survived and is brave enough to tell her story.
