He’s very self aware by pointing out that he wasn’t there. The Doors were supposed to play, but Jim had developed a reputation by this time.
Also pointing out that “it’s better than nothing.” Sure, they’re posing and pretending, but look at the rest of the world in the 60s. It was better than what came before.

You know….this isn’t the time to shit on idealism. We might just need some of it to get us out of the current mess. At the end he says he wasn’t there (at Woodstock) and that maybe it was better than nothing. A sentiment I can get behind right now.
