Woody vs Roblox
DiabellSinKeeper on
I kind of figured they had to center a story of technology having kind of overtaken physical toys as a kids main entertainment option.
Woody comes back but no Bo-Peep. Unless i missed her.

Really hoping they can bring Buzz back from being a boring useful idiot that he has turned into the last two movies
jaredwallace91 on
From what I’ve learned from a friend that works at Pixar, they try to avoid doing sequels just to make money off of them. They only pursue them if they have what they think is a good story idea. We will see if that is true for this one.

Toy Story 4 was so unnecessary. Toy Story 3 was the perfect ending
Likaon222 on
Color me surprised, it actually looks good?
I really like the ideia that the tech isn’t just getting Bonnie away from the toys, but actually hurting her socially too. It helps with the commentary they are going for, and something that I, as a uncle, actually saw happening.
Making Jess basically the main character is a good ideia to separate this movie from the others and naturally builds up the end of four. Woody coming back to help Jessie specifically makes sense and already sets up to him going back to Bo Beep in the end of the movie without needing to make another sad good bye ending.
Magik-Mina-MaudDib on
Personally, I think that making the message of the movie about how children having unlimited access to tech and the negative effects of copious amounts of screen time and social media is **a good thing**.
Toy Story 3 was perfect and they never needed to continue this series, but I at least thought Toy Story 4 was still shockingly good (not close to the level of the third, but still!) and this looks promising to me.

I am going to watch this for Conan

This looks much more like Toy Story than 4 (which i still enjoyed). This actually looks great.

I really hate how all Pixar films are adopting the stupid Dreamworks humor. They really need to fire Pete Doctor.
As the new Pixar movies are just not as funny or interesting as the new ones. Coco was really the last amazing Pixar film.

Ok so it makes complete sense that they would find a way to stay in contact with Woody, but at the same time it just cheapens how I felt watching the ending of the last one.

Spider-Verse’s style has been so influential it literally influenced the most influential animation franchise of all time. Damn.

The officially recent established Ice Age of Pixar.
Apparently just can’t let some endings be just endings. Keep milking it until the cow runs dry.
So much for Woody’s and Buzz’ goodbye in 4…

Seeing a lot of Im shocked how good this looks, well 4 looked this good and was good so this doesn’t shock me. Look did 4 need to happen no but both things can be right it didn’t need to happen but was still good. I’ve no doubt this will be good too.

It wouldn’t be Woody if he didn’t consistently ruin the plot by changing his mind on every single thing he does. It cheapens the ending of 4, which already cheapened all of 3. but im not going to pretend like I won’t be there opening weekend.

Despite reddits constant negativity, I’m always in on Toy Story.
I haven’t disliked a single one. Some have been better, but none have been bad.
But of course, I’m sure this thread will be filled with lots of bitching and moaning

I’m not sure “You Got a Friend in Me” was in need of the Hans Zimmer big boomy drum treatment. Nonetheless, this looks pretty good!

I skipped 4 since it didn’t feel like a story about the relationship we have with toys.
The first 3 were so amazing to me because they discussed those deep themes of growing up and finding other pleasures and enjoyments.
I’m really glad they’re going back to that with the 5th.

The reason 3 and 4 (yes, 4 as well) were so impactful is because they both went for closure. The finality made them worth while. How is this movie going to provide additional closure? How will the ending of this movie work as a better ending than the last two? I hope they have an answer but I’m still skeptical

The shot of all the Buzz toys in the water like they are a special black ops team had no business being hard as fuck.
Legitimately looks incredible.
I know Andrew Stanton has tried to make live-action films his new thing…but he was made for animation. This shit just hits different.

I was going to say that Joan Cusack and some of the other VAs sound quite old in the trailer, but I suppose it could work given the message of the movie.

I watched the first one recently with my daughter and thought that it would have been cool to have a redeemed grown up Sid return. A person who knows the toys are alive and wants to make up for hurting them had a lot of story potential, even as a side plot.

While people are saying Toy Story 5 is unneeded. In the era of “Ipads Kids”, I would gladly see this movie. I always felt bad for old toys that barely get used in favor of smart devices.
