For reference, here is Mann's Wikipedia filmography. Which of his films do you recommend? I absolutely loved Collateral which starred Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx. I also have Heat and Miami Vice on DVD. I've never seen Heat, and I only saw Miami Vice once a VERY long time ago, like back when Blockbuster was still a thing. LOL I think I saw Manhunter a very long time ago. I can't remember if I saw Public Enemies, the cast has me wanting to see it. I absolutely LOVED The Last of the Mohicans; I need to see this one again.
What about these movies? Are any of these worth seeing?

Thief and Heat double feature
Tom Noonan just died, so I gotta say go watch Manhunter.
FWIW Thief is my favorite Mann movie. Heat is probably the crowd favorite (and probably my #2/3).
They’re mostly all good though. His digital era stuff definitely has its own vibe, which is less to y taste. But I still mostly like the movies.
The Keep is the odd one out. It’s a real weird one.
You need to watch Heat. It’s wild that you own it and havent watched it, even after loving collateral.
All of them. But Thief top of the list.
Manhunter . Will Graham jumping throught the glass window in slow mo as la gadda da vida is playing is top tier.

The Insider is peak Michael Mann
Band of the hand
Why haven’t you watched Heat? It’s his best film. The Insider is also a fantastic film.
The Keep is stunning on a visual and sonic level, just don’t expect the same from the story because much of it didn’t survive the final cut.
The Keep is fun, but it’s a better book.
The Keep
Heat is upper echelon, IMO — and not just in Mann’s list, but period.
Watch all his movies. There aren’t many in total and there is no miss. All hits.
Heat is a masterpiece.
Top two for me are by far Heat and Collateral, followed by Thief and in that order. All are great, but Heat is a special kind of movie.
The Michael Mann movie made by William Friedkin
To live and die in LA
Heat is maybe the best cops and robbers movie of all time. You’ll want to watch that one.
I’ll defect on Thief.
Go with The Insider, Heat, Collateral, Miami Vice, Manhunter. They’re all totally different vibes so whatever you’re feeling like.
All of them
HEAT
Did he ever make the movie/show about Paul Le Roux?
Last of the Mohican’s is my personal favorite, but I celebrate his entire catalog.
Heat is the greatest film ever made
All of them prior to Ferrari
LA Takedown is far from his best film, but he doesn’t go on that run from Mohicans to Collateral (especially Heat) without first trying a shit ton of things in LA Takedown (some of which works and some doesn’t).
Heat and Collateral double feature
Watch Heat!!!
Collateral is fucking fantastic. Tom Cruise does a great job as the villain.
The Keep for sure.
I grew up in Chicago so, of course, my favourites are Thief and the ahead of its time Crime Story.
Heat is brilliant and so is Miami Vice.
Thief, Collateral and Heat the trinity ❤️
To say you haven’t watched Heat and you’re talking about Mann is some wild stuff
Thief
Manhunter
Last of the Mohicans
Heat
Manhunter!
INSIDER. More relevant than ever and it is one of the best fact checked films.
I’m curious as to why you’re seeking out this particular director.
Recommendation is ***Heat,*** of course.
You haven’t seen ‘Heat’?
