"It just, last-minute, Gerard [Butler] decided he didn’t want to go forward with it and there wasn’t a lot of discussion about it. He just… two weeks out, he pulled out and we were sort of left trying to figure out what to do. And eventually, that dissolved."

Butler wasn't expected to star in Ship but continued to serve as a producer on the film through G-BASE, meaning he still had an overall say in the film.

  1. Well, if he was the end all be all who needed to agree to have the film made. I guess there’s nothing that can happen without him.

Oh I thought they’d already filmed this and it was just waiting for a release but I guess not. I was surprised when they announced that they were even doing this because it didn’t seem like it needed a sequel, either way this isn’t the greatest look for Butler.

  3. did his company g-base pull funding? im confused why plans would dissolve if the article is saying that butler wasn’t even expecting to be in it.

I’m curious as to why he’d pull out.

Kind of sad, first was fun enough and I’d like to see more Mike Colter.

Can’t they just speed 2 it and go with different guy on the boat with same supporting actor?

Ship: Full Speed Ahead will be the film that Speed 2 Cruise Control should have been, lol

  7. One time my friends went on a cruise with their family, and Train performed. So they saw Train on a boat

  8. Wait the trilogy reboot of Planes, Trains, and Automobile got cancelled? Lame. Thats what they get for going with “Ship” instead of “Train”.

  9. I guess his check for the next Dragon movie was a bit bigger this time, so he doesn’t need to supplement his income.

  10. He realized the correct direction to go is with two sequels called “Train” and “Automobile.”

“The highest grossing film that year was called ‘Ass,’” (it’s an Idiocracy ref.)
